Based on the opinion of Doctors and the increasingly precise scientific studies on the subject CBD could be an excellent remedy against anxiety. Occasional anxiety is a normal phenomenon, especially if connected to critical situations. In several cases, however, it can turn into a real pathology, with the need for direct medical intervention. According to, the Italian Psychoanalytic Society, 2.5 million people suffer from an anxiety disorder in Italy which, based on preclinical and clinical studies, could benefit from the soothing use of CBD. Cannabidiol (CBD) has relaxing properties that allow you to fight anxiety in an active and alternative way in comparison to taking psychiatric drugs with a very heavy impact. In terms of dependence and from a physical point of view, they are both chemicals with many side effects.
According to the results of recent studies, the intake of CBD to treat anxiety-related disorders is said to be very useful, characterized by a reduced number of contraindications.
In research dated 2011 and carried out by researchers from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, among the first in the world to research the connection between CBD and anxiety, found that 40 individuals in a situation of great stress have taken on CBD during six months. The study concluded, by analyzing the patterns of blood flow in the brains of patients who had taken CBD, which created a cognitive response to detachment from pathogens typical of anxious subjects.
So how does CBD generate its anxiolytic effects? The evidence generated to date suggests that CBD helps mitigate anxiety in three ways: by acting on the 5_HT1A receptor, interacting with CB1 and CB2 receptors and through hippocampal neurogenesis.
Concerning the 5-HT1A receptor, it has been shown that CBD improves the transmission of this element, which controls the release of serotonin. In the case of CB1 and CB2 receptors, CBD, through interaction with these two receptors, helps to inhibit fatty acids such as amides and hydrolases, “protecting” anandamide, a substance that has a complex action in the brain. The CB1 and CB2 receptors also including a direct effect on nerve circuits that control emotional reactions and reduce anxiety and depression. Finally, in the relationship between CBD and anxiety several studies show how the consumption of CBD promotes neurogenesis and is, at the same time, a neuroprotector. The influence of CBD on CB2 receptors encourages the hippocampus, an important part of the brain, essential for the formation of knowledge and memory, to regenerate neurons: a fundamental step to combat depression and anxiety.
